Oh those meat eaters…

Fun fact of the day… and recently did a study on meat eaters and vegetarians dating. Though the study was only of 400 people the results were interesting. Out of those 400 people, 30% of the meat eaters said they would not date a vegetarian or vegan, and only 4% of the vegetarians would not date a meat eater

Unfortunate for the snails

Happy escargot day everyone! Well not to the snails I guess, I wonder how many people will actually eat escargot just for the celebration of escargot day? I can say that I have never had escargot and don’t really plan to anytime soon. I think it is funny because escargot is such a well known food simply because people think eating snails is weird. I know that I found out about it through movies and shows, making fun of it or having people grossed out by eating it. You know those movies where someone eat something and they say “Yummm, what is this?” the common answer is “Escargo” and then the person who was eating it is grossed out and spit it out.

But I guess it is all in the mind, if you are eating something that is good and you don’t know maybe it is for the better. Being a vegetarian kinda saves me from that a little 🙂

Anyways, to all of you out there eating snails today, enjoy one for me!

In high school I read books all the time, I was constantly in the library getting more books, but as I finished high school, and started university I found myself with a lot less time. I enjoy the summers because I can start reading books again. That I found very frustrating because I love to read, and I seem not be able to get into it like I was before.

Anyways while reading some blogs the other day I came across this book called The Butcher and the Vegetarian. I have read a few pages and I find it absolutely great! It is about a girl who was raised a vegetarian, and then has to start eating meat and learn all about meat. I cannot wait to pick it up and start reading it again. I will keep posting about the book.

Have a great day 🙂

That is me. I am a vegetarian, and have been since grade seven. Now the question is what made you become a vegetarian. Well hmm, my cousin, who I look up to A LOT was a vegetarian at the time as well. She was always making comments about how bad meat was. This kinda started me thinking about it. But it all really happened one day in grade seven when we had a fish dissection, and it grossed me out so much that I asked my teacher if I could sit out, she let me and I waited outside of the class until it was all over. Well it just so happened that this class was right before lunch, and guess what I had for lunch that day, a tuna fish sandwich. I couldn’t eat it, just the thought of it made my stomach turn. That is when I started cutting meat out of my diet, obviously going from eating meat one day to not at all the next was a tough transition. For the first week I have to admit I ate a few pieces. After that I stopped completely. Then I started really looking into being a vegetarian, read about how they treated animals. It soon got to the point where meat disgusted me.

One thing that I was really lucky about, when I went on my first date with my now boyfriend. We were talking about something, I am not sure what brought up the meat eating topic, but he said “Didn’t you know I was a vegetarian?” I was shocked and surprised, because in my small town there were VERY few vegetarians. So meeting a boy who was vegetarian like me was amazing. I cannot imagine what it would be like to date someone who is not a vegetarian when you are. I am not saying in any way that it is bad or wrong, but I know that I personally would be weirded out by it.

Now for a little rant… heh. I have one thing to say to people that call themselves vegetarian, when really they eat chicken, or fish, or whatever. And no I am not pointing fingers at anyone here, so do not assume this is towards anyone this is just how I feel. But if you eat fish, chicken, beef, whatever. You are definitely not a vegetarian. That is one of my biggest annoyances.
